Abstract 「はじめに」わが国において, 長年, 妊娠糖尿病(gestational diabetes mellitus:GDM)は, 「妊娠中に発症もしくははじめて発見された耐糖能低下をいう」と定義されていた. 2010年に, IADPSG(International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups)Consensus Panelが大規模スタディによる周産期の有害事象を基にしたGDM新診断基準を発表し, わが国でも26年ぶりにIADPSG基準に準じた新しいGDM診断基準に変更され, 2015年8月に一部改訂された. 新基準では, GDMは「妊娠中にはじめて発見または発症した糖尿病に至っていない糖代謝異常である」と定義され, 妊娠中の明らかな糖尿病や糖尿病合併妊娠とは区別されることになった. 診断基準の変更により, 妊娠糖尿病の頻度は2.1%から8.5%へと4倍に増加した.
