Abstract 「はじめに」 2020年に, 国際疼痛学会(IASP)から痛みの定義の改訂版が出された. その和訳を日本疼痛学会が行い, 痛みとは「実際の組織損傷もしくは組織損傷が起こりうる状態に付随する, あるいはそれに似た, 感覚かつ情動の不快な体験」とした. これからわかることは, (1)組織損傷はあってもなくてもよい, (2)感覚としての不快な体験であり, かつ情動としての不快な体験, が痛みであるということである. 不快でなければ痛みとはいえない. 痛みは「急性痛」と「慢性痛」に分類される. 急性痛は, 原因が明確で発症から3カ月以内に創傷修復に伴って基本的に改善する痛みであり, 生体に生じた異常を知らせる警報システムである. 一方慢性痛は, 3カ月以上続く痛みであり, 痛みの原因となる外傷や疾患が治癒した後にも長期間持続するものであり, 有害な痛みとして捉えることができる. 「慢性痛の病態」 慢性痛には, さまざまな因子がかかわっている.
