Abstract 「要旨」糖尿病がもたらす障害の基本は血管障害であり, 糖尿病性大血管病 (脳卒中, 冠動脈疾患, 末梢血管疾患) , 糖尿病細小血管病 (網膜症, 神経障害, 腎症) , 足病変など多様かつ全身に及ぶ. 糖尿病は, 障害者の機能予後や生命予後に大きな影響を及ぼす. 例えば, 低血糖, 足病変, 視力障害, 四肢末端の異常感覚, 起立性低血圧などは, 患者のADLやQOLを大きく損なわせるとともに, リハビリテーション医療の障害になる. また, 糖尿病は脳血管障害・虚血性心疾患・腎不全などの初発・再発の重要な危険因子でもある. このように, 糖尿病患者では内部障害や運動機能障害に配慮したリハビリテーション医療の実践が求められている.
