| Abstract |
[Abstract] The purpose of this study was to clarify the experiences of midwives assisting mothers during Emergency Caesarean Sections based on their postnatal debriefings. The study was conducted among midwives (n=10) working at the general hospitals who had experience of postnatal debriefings after assisting mothers during Emergency Caesarean Sections. 10 midwives from three hospitals participated in this study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, and a qualitative analysis was performed. The first contents were "the midwife was suffering from not finding the start of postnatal debriefing." "the midwife was suffering from responding when there was a negative emotional expression from the mother." and "differences in perceptions between the mother and midwives." Next were the means used by midwives to encourage the mothers to express of their feelings. "acceptance and empathy." "means used by midwives implications for a positive birth experience." "the need for relationships in pregnancy." "breastfeeding care for improve injured self-esteem." and "it is necessary to share experience among midwives involved with mothers." We also extracted 23 related subcategories. Midwives recognize that postnatal debriefings are necessary in the care of mothers and various methods are used to promote mothers'emotional expression. |
