| Abstract | [Abstract] The aims of this study were to clarify the characteristics of postnatal care services that mothers who used a Korean postpartum care center felt promoted their physical and mental recovery, and to obtain suggestions for postnatal care services in Japan. Ten mothers who used a Korean postpartum care center for approximately two weeks after the birth of their first child and who had been using the center for three years or less since the birth of their first child were targeted and interviewed semi-structurally about their basic attributes, reasons for using a care center, duration of use of the care center, and the content of care services that promoted their physical and mental recovery. The following four categories of care services that mothers who used the care center felt promoted their physical and mental recovery were generated: "massage care that helped mothers recover after childbirth", "breast care tailored to the mother's condition", "environment that mothers felt comfortable in", and "extensive education on newborn care". Mothers felt that the long-term stay in a safe and comfortable environment helped them recover physically and mentally. On the other hand, there were also some problems such as high costs and inconsistent service quality. Although it is difficult to compare the two countries' services because of systems and service differences, the physical and mental recovery after childbirth is a universal need. In Japan, it is necessary to promote the spread of postpartum care services by flexibly combining care and services through the efforts to promote their use. |
